Recent studies show a surprising number of Israelis are choosing to identify as Reform or Conservative, although the two movements have low membership and attendance statistics. What does this mean? Based on the findings of his book Rising Streams: Reform and Conservative Judaism in Israel, Dan Feferman claims that this amounts to nothing less than a fundamental shift in the religious identity of Israeli Jews.
