The fabulously successful new TV series The Marvelous Mrs Maisel presents an appealing but flawed alternative history of stand-up comedy. Join Debra as she explores the real history of the birth of stand-up and how daring and different from its predecessors it was. Mrs Maisel may be wishful, nostalgic thinking, but it nevertheless opens up a new way of exploring the history of Jewish women in stand-up.
