What is it to be Jewish? That’s the question being asked by playwright James Sherman in The God of Isaac. Triggered by news of a planned neo-Nazi demonstration in his home of Skokie Illinois, title character Isaac goes on a journey to discover his true Jewish identity. This ’serious comedy’ is a perfect vehicle to demonstrate how a story is brought to life through close collaboration between the director and the set/costume designer.
