Many psychologists integrate their faiths into their work. This session explores faith and mental health from Islamic, Biblical, Hasidic and clinical perspectives. Can sacred texts help normalise depression? We will explore traditions such as "Even the Prophet Mohammad SAW was tested with Sorrow and grief”; and how Elijah the Prophet expressed a death wish and refused to eat. Religion can reinforce stigma or help us navigate sadness, bitterness and shame. Can God's infinite forgiveness empower us to forgive ourselves?
